Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. This West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a vast area that extends from Lachine to the west. The West Island is frequently referred to as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. Her initial ambition was to pursue a career as an actress but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner weren't able to dance with her. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. Many dancers make the transition to acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who encouraged her in that direction. Her teacher suggested she audition to play the character of Anne for their school's annual production. After trying out the role, she was chosen as the main character of Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has appeared in 60 different productions including big screen productions and on smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was as Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the only Canadian actor in the season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
